Using facial recognition technology to target advertising

How do you feel about supermarkets using facial recognition technology to target advertising to their customers? Tesco is installing hi-tech at their supermarket petrol stations so that advertsisements can be tailored to suit them.

 

The screen, positioned at the till, scans the eyes of customers to determine  age and gender, and then runs customized advertisements. The technology also adjusts adverts depending on the time and date, and monitors customer purchases.

 

What do you think about using technology to tailor adverstisments to clients? How do you feel about having your face scanned while you're shopping?

    I find it illegal to allow somebody to take photos without getting permission from the person concerned. This is an infringement of one's privacy
