People tend to daydream about meeting someone who has made a great difference in the world, someone such as Martin Luther King Jr., or Benjamin Franklin, Mahatma Gandhi, or even Malala yousafzai. I am one of those people and I dream about meeting Barack Obama. Barack Obama is the American Politician who served as the 44th president of the United States. He was born on August 4, 1961 in Honolulu, Hawaii, U.S. Now, he is 56. Michelle Obama is his wife. He was not just the first African-American president, but also one of the few who show great determination to carry out their plans to improve our nation.

Throughout his presidency, Barack Obama has been an advocate for women. Obama’s very first executive action as President was to sign the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, a bill specifically designed to annihilate wage discrimination barriers for women. In 2009 he created the White House Council on Women and Girls. It’s purpose is to ensure that all federal agencies “take into account the needs of women and girls in the policies they draft, the programs they create, the legislation they support, and that the purpose of our government is to ensure that in America, all things are still possible for all people.”

Obama has always been an advocate for education, making it a top priority during his administration. Believing education is what brings about the strength of a nation, Obama has set a goal for the U.S. to have the highest proportion of college graduates in the world by 2020. He has increased federal funding and doubled the amount of grant money allocated to students seeking a higher education to cover rising tuition costs. During his presidency, Obama also passed the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for African-Americans and the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanics to ensure equal education for people of color.

Obama has done lot of things for the environment. His policies and initiatives for a clean energy economy have had an incredible impact on the future of the nation. For instance, the U.S. reduced oil imports by more than 10 percent from 2010 - 2011. That’s more than 1 million barrels a day. He established the largest marine reserve in the world, In September 2014. OnNov.6, 2015, he rejected construction of the 1,179-mile pipeline from Canada to Texas Coast. In March 2014, Obama established the first shoreline addition to the monument, which consists of 20,000 rocks, islands, exposed reefs and pinnacles along 1,100 miles of Northern California's coast. He established the largest ocean sanctuary on the planet. “Our environment is too important to neglect and it’s time for the federal government to focus on real solution and live up to their promises.” -Barack Obama

In conclusion, Barack Obama would be one famous person I would like to meet.
