Prepositions are short words that are used to link nouns, pronouns, or phrases to other words within a sentence. Prepositions normally appear before nouns. In some cases,  they are placed in front of gerund verbs. There are more than 100 prepositions in the English language. However, There are hardly any rules as to when to use which preposition. The only way to learn prepositions, therefore, is to look them up in a dictionary and learn useful phrases  by heart. In this unit, you will find explanations and examples of different types of prepositions well as some helpful preposition exercises. Note that prepositions usually convey concepts such as time, place, direction, comparison, purpose, source and possession. Yet, focus will be here on Prepositions of Time and Prepositions of Place.
