myself, yourself, himself, herself, itself, ourselves, yourselves, themselves. 

 

Reflexive use:

myself, yourself etc. are used as objects of a verb when the action of the verb returns to the 

doer, that is when subject and object are the same person: 

  • She spoke to herself.

  • He killed himself. 

  • They blamed themselves for the crime . 
  • This fridge defrosts itself. 
 
myself, yourself etc. are used similarly after a verb + preposition: 
  • She spoke to herself. Did he pay for himself? 
  • Look after yourself. Take care of yourselves. 
  • I’m annoyed with myself. 
  • She sent the email to herself. 

 

Emphatic use:

myselfyourself etc. can also be used to emphasize a noun or pronoun

  • I did it myself.
  • I’II speak to the President himself.
